Finance Manager - Marketing & Innovation

The Role
  • Direct report to Head of Commercial Finance
  • Newly created role partnering with key stakeholders and wider leadership team

Exciting newly created role – You will be a trusted business partner to the Marketing GM in the development of multi-year marketing investment strategies across categories and brands to realise the optimal financial return in line with Simplot’s brand portfolio roles. In addition, the Finance Manager Marketing is accountable for supporting the delivery of all product innovation initiatives across all categories and channels, working collaboratively with the Marketing and Innovation teams to ensure Net Sales and Profit hurdles are met and appropriate post launch reviews are in place.

You will also proactively demonstrate behaviour that engenders and promotes the Simplot values. 

What will you do
  • Assist the Marketing GM with the development of a 3-year investment strategy to ensure growth across brands, categories and channels with focus on portfolio health and financial return
  • Coordinate the build and management of multi-year marketing investment plans (3-10 year plan) in collaboration with the Finance Manager Category and FP&A
  • Ability to track, measure and adapt agreed plans to deliver against that strategy
  • Marketing Investment Effectiveness & ROI 
  • Align investment to Brand Portfolio Roles to realise the strongest return
  • Marketing effectiveness – Assist with the setting of targets for working/non-working investment. Reallocation of resources/investment to growth platforms to deliver short-term results without comprising the long-term strategy
  • Develop plans and business cases to broaden and enhance profitability of the business
  • Ensure Brand planning process is integrated with the Category and Channel planning process 
  • Own the Marketing budget and forecast, partnering closely with Marketing leadership and the Marketing GM
  • Support the delivery of all product innovation initiatives, working collaboratively with the Marketing and Innovation teams 
  • Partner the Head of Commercial Finance and broader FLT to lead the Finance function, developing and role modelling the Finance vision, and driving the overall capability of the function

  • Proven FMCG and retail experience 
  • Relevant associated degree within Finance
  • Strong influential and communication style
