Two roles are available for experienced candidates to contribute to the RBA’s policy objectives in Risk Management and Payments Policy Departments. There is some similarity between the roles and the applicant profiles each Department is seeking. As a result, eligible applicants will be considered by both Departments through the one recruitment process. Both positions are to be offered on a 2-year initial employment contract basis.
The essential selection criteria are as follows (with position descriptions attached):
- Risk Management: degree in finance or related field 1916.pdf
- Payments Policy: degree in economics/finance (or a related discipline), advanced working knowledge of the financial system and financial risk management, and a proven capacity for analytical work 5225.pdf
These roles would ideally suit candidates with studies in finance with professional exposure to the financial system and/or financial markets. Both positions offer opportunities for medium-term policy-relevant research. The position in Risk Management also involves implementation of the Bank’s policies. The position in Payments Policy involves the supervision of ASX and/or high value payment systems.
Accordingly, candidates must demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as experience in professional and/or academic research (such as an honours degree). Collaboration and professional liaison (internally and/or externally) is important in both roles.
