We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager Financial Reporting and Accounting to join our South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD).  The successful candidate will have a senior management role within the District’s Finance Team located at The Sutherland Hospital, Caringbah Campus.

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District: 

The District is one of the busiest in NSW with a staff of nearly 10,000 and 2,150 inpatient beds, providing health services to a population of almost 800,000 citizens and 230,000 workers who travel to the city during the working week.

The District Finance Team is an enabling function for frontline staff.  They ensure the timely and accurate provision of financial information to internal and external stakeholders and compliance to processes and controls that constitute regulatory or legislative requirements. 

The Role

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is committed to improving the care provided to our patients in line with our vision of “working together to improve the health and wellbeing of our community”.  
  
This position reports directly to the Director of Finance at SESLHD and is responsible for managing the Statutory Reporting and Financial Accounting team, its services and operations to meet all corporate goals and objectives and for centralised financial accounting services including management of day to day activities, consolidation and overall integrity of the data in the General Ledger.

About the location:

Although this position is located primarily at The Sutherland Hospital, the successful candidate may be required to travel to other locations within the South Eastern Local Health District.

  1. Tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, economics or related discipline and full membership with a recognised accounting body.
  2. Well developed oral and written communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and experience in liaison and negotiation for contact with a wide range of stakeholders.
  3. A capacity for lateral thinking and able to demonstrate creativity and innovation in the performance of work.
  4. Self motivated and an ability to lead and motivate others with extensive experience and successful track record in managing a team involved in a complex range of accounting activities.
  5. Demonstrated ability in the development of accounting policy, procedures and principles.
  6. Ability to undertake complex financial analyses using various statistical techniques and computerised packages.
  7. Sound understanding of contemporary health policy, strategies and issues and knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and their application in the public health system.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to the development of self and others.
