The Moreland City Council Audit and Risk Management Committee is a sub-committee of Council. The Committee is an advisory committee and provides Council with independent assurance and assistance in the areas of financial reporting, audit, internal control effectiveness, risk management, regulatory compliance and performance reporting.
As well as three Councillors, the Committee includes two independent members and an independent Chair. Council seeks expressions of interest for the position of Independent Member of its Audit and Risk Management Committee for a three-year term.
The Committee structure is designed to include a balance of professional skills, knowledge and technical experience to effectively discharge its responsibilities outlined in the Audit and Risk Management Committee Charter. In addition to detailed knowledge and experience in business, governance and risk management relevant to a large organisation; the appointee will have financial qualifications and experience. It is preferable the appointee understands the functions of Local Government and is a resident of the municipality.
The Committee has four meetings a year (March, June, September and November) in the evening at the Council’s Civic Centre located in Coburg.
