Role Overview

The purpose of this role is to coordinate and manage the Financial Services Branch of Council to ensure timely and accurate production of financial and management accounts, budgets and legislative compliance to meet the financial business needs of the organisation.

What we are looking for

In recognition of the importance placed on accountability and accurate production and distribution of financial reporting to key business stakeholders, including budgets, audits, policy development and financial advice, we are seeking to appoint a strategic financial executive to the position of Chief Financial Officer who can play a key role in our Corporate and Community Services Directorate.

As a direct report to the Director, this position will play a lead role to ensure that Council's financial reporting is strategically focused, transparent, accountable and legislatively compliant.  The CFO will be directly responsible for leading a team of four Co-ordinators, each directly responsible for team members in their areas of financial accounting, management accounting, rates and procurement.

This will be a challenging and exciting role, with the successful candidate tasked to deliver business critical financial leadership.  As such, the role demands a high calibre and experienced CFO, with a commercial business focus and significant ability to influence others.  The  ability to build and maintain relationships through a collaborative and consultative approach is critical for success coupled with an appetite to implement and drive change and the ability to view systems operations with a continuous improvement approach.  The role calls for a person with an engaging and consultative leadership style with high level interpersonal communication skills and a focus on customer service.
