The Company
Our client is an incredibly reputable Melbourne business situated just outside of the CBD in the inner Eastern suburbs. An SME business operating for over a hundred years, the organisation is about to embark on a period of change and transformation. Currently operating at $80 million turnover the business is looking to enhance the infrastructure across the business to maintain impressive performance.  

The Role
The Head of Finance will be a new addition to the leadership team and will be responsible for all finance and accounting activities in the organisation and will report directly to the COO. 

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic commercial and financial insight as a key member of the senior leadership team to support achievement of financial targets and key business priorities
  • Lead the finance team as effective business partners to the rest of the organisation, to aid in optimal decision making
  • Ensure integrity of reported financial results through effectively understanding and improving as required the accounting systems/processes and internal controls
  • Designs and implements reporting mechanisms to support commercial and strategic decision making
  • Own the annual budgeting and ad hoc forecasting processes, including working with other departments to gather required information, understanding the expenses of the business, creating the budgeted/forecasted P&L and analysing the results
  • Ensure all required government remittances (GST, FBT, payroll taxes, income taxes, etc.) are computed accurately and remitted on time
  • Cash flow forecasting and management
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Complete and/or oversee month end activities, including journal entries, financial statement preparation and analysis and reconciliations
  • Prepare working papers for year-end income tax return and liaise with external tax accountant as required
  • Lead interactions with financial institutions, auditors and other stakeholders including the payroll provider
  • Oversight of general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, manual billing, and financial reporting
  • Provide overall management and leadership for the accounting team of 8 people
  • Additional duties as necessary
About You
You will be an exceptional performer who is very career focused and possess a strong positive attitude. It is essential to have 2+ years’ experience in a Senior/Managerial/Lead Finance position. Must have proven experience in leading and developing Finance & Accounting teams as well as change management experience. You must be a CA/CPA/CFA qualified ideally with a foundation in a Big 4/Mid-Tier firm. Individuals that have demonstrated the ability to improve and streamline processes as well as identify and execute cost saving initiatives are urged to apply.
