Finance Manager - Media 

About the role:

We have a unique opportunity for dynamic and motivated Finance Manager to join our newly created Media business as a key member of its Leadership Team. The position will be accountable for setting up and operating all aspects of the Finance function for this new business unit, whilst proactively contributing to the business strategy and commercial decision-making process.

The business currently generates $100m in revenue and has growth ambitions to double in size over coming years.

Based in Surry Hills, Sydney 

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Driving all aspects of finance control for the media business, including, management, group financial and statutory reporting
  • Providing financial reports and analysis to the wider Woolworths Group
  • Providing commercial support to business strategy, executive plans and the operational decision-making process (e.g. pricing)
  • Leading the successful financial set up of the new media business
  • Leading the Annual Operating Plan, monthly forecast and month end process
  • Developing reporting dashboards, drawing out insights and proactively engaging the leadership team to act upon those insights
  • Preparing management and board presentations
  • Partnering across the broader Woolworths Finance teams  
  • Implementation of benefits tracking
  • Meeting matrix reporting requirements to both the Media Business MD and the wider Woolworths Group Finance function
  • Leading and developing a small yet high performing finance team

About you:

  • CA/CPA qualified with several years professional accounting experience

  • Proven commercial background within a high growth business (preferably in Media/Advertising)

  • A customer first mindset with the ability to successfully build cross-functional relationships

  • An ability to analyse rich data with the aim of achieving successful operational outcomes

  • Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders

  • Displays personal competencies such as:

o   Great leadership

o   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

o   Organisational and deadline-oriented skills

o   Innovative and proactive

o   Logical and analytical thinker

o   Ability and willingness to step in and take things on  

  • Strong systems experience (e.g. SAP/WEBI) and advanced excel/PowerPoint skills
  • Able to contribute to the creation of an innovative culture while maintaining needed financial discipline
  • Comfortable working in a ‘hands on’ position that offers breadth, scope and leadership
