About Rous County Council
Rous County Council in located in the heart of the Northern Rivers with an operational footprint covering over 3,000km2. As a County Council, we are responsible for providing three specific functions; Bulk Water Supply, Weed Biosecurity and Flood Mitigation.
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate leader who is ready to engage a team of connected staff. Key accountabilities for the role are to:
- Lead and provide operational advice supporting improved asset management processes and workflow, including investigation and responses to operational issues, condition assessments and to maintain levels of service.
- Contribute to, develop, implement, monitor, manage, review, improve, revise and report on strategic, operational and project plans related to water treatment plants, telemetry and SCADA/PLC infrastructure across the distribution and treatment assets, water sources and related recreational areas, including asset operation and maintenance plans.
- Manage, communicate and collaborate with staff in the Team, including the monitoring and management of performance.
- Prepare, program and project budgets and assist in the preparation of annual budgets for the group in accordance with strategic and operational plans.
- Contribute to the preparation, review and implementation of Council’s Emergency Management Plan/s and Emergency Response Plans for water supply and participate in management of responses as required.
- Ensure works comply with safety, environment and quality systems and relevant policies, procedures, practices and legislation.
- Participate in the implementation, review, continual improvement and internal promotion of Council’s Drinking Water Management System, including the review and assessment of daily treatment plant(s) operational performance to ensure regulatory compliance is achieved effectively and efficiently.
- Manage the operation, maintenance, renewal, reporting and safety surveillance of Council’s dam structures and storage areas, including participation in the review, exercising and implementation of the Dam Safety Emergency Plans (DSEP) for Rocky Creek and Emigrant Creek Dams, and participating in management of responses as required.
- Maintain strong and open communication with the Group Manager Operations ensuring achievement of operational outcomes.
- Manage, monitor and report expenditure on programs and projects against budget forecasts and ensure expenditure is maintained within the adopted Budget allocations.

- 70 hour 9-day fortnight
- Remuneration from $108,000-$128,000 + attraction and or market allowance % for the right candidate. Additional superannuation, private motor vehicle leaseback or equivalent vehicle allowances are applicable
