External Budgets Assistant Director

 

Our client is seeking to engage an External Budgets Assistant Director.

 Non-ongoing - 12 months with potential extension or S26 transfer

The External Budgets Section oversees the coordination and delivery of a range of budgetary processes and deliverables, including but not limited to:

  • Workflows between the Department, portfolio agencies and the Department of Finance.
  • The Department's input into the Commonwealth's annual Budget and MYEFO cycles.
  • The Department's Portfolio Budget Submission, and other Budget related documentation and correspondence.
  • Proactively interacting with central Government agencies, program areas, and sections on Budget documents and liaison with partner departments as required.
  • The Department's New Policy Proposals and costings process.
  • Preparing briefing material, reports and other Budget related matter for senior executives.
  • Delivering effective and time sensitive financial advice and support to stakeholders, including Budget reporting and analysis.

Job Description:

  • Co-ordinate and conduct compliance checks of the Department’s New Policy Proposals and associated costings.
  • Maintain key Budget artefacts, including trackers and costing templates.
  • Review Cabinet minutes, Government decisions and other ministerial correspondences to track Commonwealth Budget decisions.
  • Proactively interact with central Government agencies, program areas, and sections on Budget documents and liaise with partner departments as required.
  • Prepare briefing material, reports and other Budget related documents for senior executives.
  • Provide leadership for a small team dedicated to these activities listed above.
  • Other duties as directed by supervisor to support the efficient operations of the section.
